5 Camps to Get Kids on the Water

Give your kids Colorado-style water adventures at these camps and classes.

Temperatures start to rise, and before long, your kids are begging to go to the pool and the splash park, busting out the water squirters, and turning on the backyard hose. As you plan your summer schedule this year, give your little fish what they want by adding more water and outdoor adventure to this year’s summer break. When you enroll your child in camps and classes focused on water activities, they’ll learn water safety, while racking up a few new outdoor skills.

Avid4 Adventure provides fun and active ways for kids to explore their adventurous outdoorsy side. Specifically, their paddleboarding and kayaking camps focus on teaching kids to assess their surroundings while making decisions, allowing them to approach risks with an educated response. Campers hone their water skills at a variety of local creeks and reservoirs around the Front Range. Grades second to seventh for kayaking and paddleboarding. Registration open.

Colorado Academy Summer Programs

Appropriate for grades pre-K to 12th, children can enjoy any of the more than 20 programs happening each week, even if they aren’t a CA student. Registration is open through the spring.

Colorado Water Sports

SUP + Kayaking + Sailing

The Colorado Water Sports camp programs are designed to bring water and adventure together, from the shores of Roxborough Cove on Chatfield Reservoir. Activities include SUP, kayaking, and sailing. Each activity aims to challenge children physically and mentally. Enrollment is open.

Community Sailing

SUP + Sailing

At Community Sailing, campers will be given the opportunity to learn and experience several variations of sailing on multiple types of boats, at either the Cherry Creek or Boulder Reservoir. They’ll gain the knowledge and confidence on the water while making smart choices about water safety and teamwork. Registration can be done online for ages five to 17.

Rocky Mountain Paddleboard
