Family-Friendly Beer Gardens

Make the most of nice summer days with your family and friends.

Who says you need a babysitter to enjoy one of Denver’s great beer gardens? Many of Denver’s neighborhood watering holes are welcoming places for all members of the family, reducing the bar-like setting in favor of a backyard feel with lawn games and firepits to entertain guests of all ages while grownups enjoy the latest brews. Located all over the metro area, here are some favorite family-friendly beer gardens.

Red Rocks Beer Garden

Located near Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, this beer garden serves nothing but Colorado-made beers, wines, spirits, and snacks—think Creekside Cellars, Rocky Mountain Soda Company, and Rocky Mountain Pizza. It’s the perfect spot to relax after a family hike at Red Rocks. 116 Stone St., Morrison.

Jake’s Brew Bar

A little oasis along Littleton’s Main Street, Jake’s offers 36 rotating craft beers on tap, as well as wine and spirits, plus soda options for kids. There’s a music stage and firepit, and food trucks are on-site Thursday to Sunday. Jake’s is family-friendly until 9 p.m. 2530 W. Main St., Littleton.

Local 46 & Biergarten

Located in the Berkeley neighborhood, Local 46 has a beer garden out back with a bocce court, ping-pong, cornhole, and firepits. The bar serves a wide selection of beer, spirits, and wine, plus chocolate milk and juice boxes for kids. The food menu includes kid-friendly options like sliders and hot dogs. Local 46 is family-friendly until 8 p.m. 4586 Tennyson St., Denver.

2 Penguins Tap and Grill

The beer garden at 2 Penguins features games like giant Jenga and cornhole, and live music on Saturday evenings. There’s a full bar and 36 taps of craft beer, plus milk and soda for kiddos. The full food menu is available outside, including a kids menu with coloring mat. 13065 E. Briarwood Ave., Centennial.

RiNo Beer Garden

Supervised kids are always welcome at this RiNo spot. The garden features 4,000 square feet of outdoor space with pergolas, firepits, TVs, and more than 60 beer taps. There’s a full-service bar plus tea, fruit juice, and soda, and the kitchen serves up brunch, lunch, and dinner. 3800 Walnut St., Denver.

Cherry Creek Beer Garden

Located next to the chic Moxy Hotel, the Cherry Creek Beer Garden is open to families and supervised kids. There’s plenty of comfortable seating, lawn games, and firepits. The garden serves beer in cans, and also offers milk, juice, soda, and mocktails. There is a small food menu for sharing, featuring grilled meats, a soft pretzel, and fries. 240 Josephine St., Denver.

Recess Beer Garden

At this indoor/outdoor beer garden in LoHi, there’s a multi-level patio with beer taps both inside and outside. Supervised kiddos are welcome during the day, and several meals on the menu can be made kid-size, like sliders, corn dogs, and mac and cheese. They also offer $3 draft beers all day on Tuesdays. 2715 17th St., Denver.
