7 Family-Friendly Ways to Experience the Thrill of Halloween

Experience the spookiness of Halloween (without any screams) at these family-friendly haunts.

After Dark Corn Maze

October 13, 17, 20, 24, and 27, 7-10 p.m.

Find your way through the Corn Maze with only the light of a glow stick. The maze is not haunted and masks and costumes are not permitted. $12-$14 adult, $13 student, senior, and military, $9-$11 ages 3-12, free age 2 and under. Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Rd., Littleton.

Boo on the Bluff

October 26, 10 a.m. to  1 p.m.

Trick or treat your way around Bluff Lake while visiting stations from partners that will host a variety of activities, crafts, and games. $3 per person, $15 per family. Bluff Lake Nature Center, 3400 Havana Way, Denver.

Dead Zone Scream Park

October 4-27, hours vary

Take in the Corn Stalkers Haunted Maze, After Dark Maze, and Fear Flicks, all included in the admission price. Recommended for age 13 and up. Masks and costumes are not permitted on the premises. $28-$40. Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, 8500 W. Deer Creek Canyon Rd., Littleton.

Haunted Hayrides

October 25-26, 6-9 p.m.

Storytellers narrate an amusing tale while you travel in a vehicle-drawn wagon down a haunted trail for 30 minutes of scary family fun. Enjoy food, concessions, and a petting zoo (for a small donation) inside the barn. Rides are a fundraiser for Douglas County 4H. $12, free for age 2 and under riding on an adult’s lap. Stockton’s Plum Creek Stables, 7479 W. Titan Rd., Littleton.

Haunted Trail Adventure

October 12, 4-7 p.m.

Experience the park in all its ghoulish magic with an evening of ghostly trails and tales. Discover the critters of the night, play carnival games, enjoy tasty treats, roast marshmallows, and sip hot chocolate. $5, free age 3 and under. Bear Creek Lake Regional Park, 15600 W. Morrison Rd., Lakewood.

Not-So-Spooky Nature Night

October 24, 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Learn how different animals make their costumes of camouflage with games, crafts, and some special trick-or-treats. Register online. Ages 4-8. $3. Majestic View Nature Center, 7030 Garrison St., Arvada.

Trick or Treat Nature Trail

October 27, 1-4 p.m.

Stroll the trail at Star K Ranch for booths and activities. Costumes are encouraged. Free. Morrison Nature Center, 16002 E. Smith Rd., Aurora.
