Cheyenne Fencing Society & Modern Pentathlon Center of Denver teaches kids to handle an epee sword, just for fun or to enter fencing competitions. In addition to bringing imaginary adventures to life, our fencing camps in Denver, CO, lead by three-time Olympian, Elaine Cheris, also help children develop discipline and improve their self-esteem and physical fitness. Fencing training also helps kids to think, act and respond for themselves and see the direct outcome of their actions instantly.
Other parents see these benefits of fencing at Cheyenne:
- Self respect, and respect for others is an integral part of developing the skills of fencing at our club.
- This is a year round indoor activity so camp activities are not interrupted by inclement weather.
- Fencing seeks out all the physical attributes of the composite athlete; the elite athlete has the endurance of the gymnast, the heart and lungs of the swimmer, and the courage of the boxer.
- Fencing teaches patience, strategy, swiftness and precision. The control of the blade must be with the swiftness on precision of the skilled surgeon, tempered with the patience of the chess player.
