2020 Virtual Summer Camps for Colorado Kids

Virtual is the new it word for summer, with many businesses taking their camps to the interwebs. Here’s a roundup of virtual camps for your kids to attend this summer.

Summer is going to look very different this year now that we’re practicing social distancing and safer-at-home measures, and the same goes for summer camps. We’re sharing virtual camps to keep your kids entertained and learning at home over the next few months.

Arvada Center Virtual Summer Camps

Various dates starting June 8

To keep everyone safe, the Arvada Center’s June summer camps are being held virtually through Zoom. There are a variety of creative camps available for kids (ages five to 16), including dance, ceramics, drama, visual arts, digital arts, and music. Prices vary.

Avid 4 Adventure Camp at Home

Monday-Friday, June 8 through August 21

Register for a weeklong Avid 4 Adventure Camp at Home and an instructor will come directly to your house to teach a small group of up to four kids, grades first through fifth. Activities are tailored to your child’s interests and centered around your home, backyard, and nearby parks and trails. Topics may include navigation, shelter building, outdoor cooking, wildlife education, outdoor ethics, and emergency response and preparedness. $1,329 for a weeklong camp for four kids.

Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Virtual Summer Camps

Weeklong sessions starting June 15

Cleo Parker Robinson Dance is taking their camps online this summer. Camps include Hip-Hop/STEAM, ISDI Global Children’s Week, and ISDI Teen Pre-Professional Intensive. Programming will feature a mixture of live and pre-recorded sessions from instructors. Prices vary.

Colorado Ballet Academy Virtual Summer Camps

Three Monday-Friday sessions, June 8 through August 17

Through Colorado Ballet Academy’s virtual summer camps, instructors will connect with students online, engage them with creative classes and choreography, and conduct socially distant crafts and activities (supplies provided). Camps (for ages three to nine) include Make a Ballet, Prince and Princess Dance Camp, and Fairy and Elf Dance Camp. $55-$110 depending on age.

Colorado Children’s Theatre Online Camps

Various dates starting June 8

Colorado Children’s Theatre is taking their 2020 summer camps online through June 22. Kids can choose to sing like a superstar in Pop Vocal Concert, explore musical theater in Island Adventure Camp, or bust a move in Dance Camp. Online camps are held Monday through Friday for ages six to 16. $150- $300 depending on camp.

Food Lab Virtual Baking Camps

June 1-5

Get cooking this summer with Food Lab’s virtual camps. The next session is all about baking and comes with an ingredient box for each child to pick up at Food Lab prior to camp. Campers log in each day to cook live with a Food Lab chef and fellow campers. In-person baking camps are scheduled for late June and July. $275

June 5, 12, 19, and 26

A Precious Child is partnering with Kroenke Sports Charities and the Denver Broncos Cheerleaders to offer kids free virtual sports camps this June. Join them live on Facebook every Friday at 3 p.m. and get active with athletes from Colorado sports teams including Colorado Avalanche players, Denver Nuggets player Will Barton, Denver Broncos cheerleaders, and NFL player Emmanuel Sanders. Growing Gardens Virtual Summer Camp

Weeklong sessions starting June 1

Through Growing Gardens’ virtual summer camps kids will explore various gardening topics, from growing a green thumb to cooking with seasonal Colorado produce. Camps include daily Zoom calls with environmental educators, hands-on activities and crafts, snack recipes, and games. Activities are designed for ages five to 11. $100-$250 per week.

Hopkins Education Services Summer Explorers

Monday through Thursday, June 15-25

Hopkins Education Services is hosting two virtual summer camp sessions in June. Each day, students will participate in a morning meeting, virtual field trip, hands-on STEM activity, and interactive mindfulness time, and there’s an opportunity to earn prizes by completing missions throughout the week. Students will receive a personalized Explorers Kit (including all materials) on the Sunday before camp starts. $300 per week.

Longmont Museum Virtual Summer Camp

Weeklong sessions starting June 1

In Longmont Museum’s virtual summer camps, children will explore themes such as STEM, the Wild West, visual arts, outdoor skills, pop-culture, fabric arts and sewing, movement and circus tricks, wizardry, and classic arts and crafts. Each camp will be held online in a secure meeting room with activities planned away from the screen. Cost of camps includes a kit of supplies to be picked up outside the museum the week prior to camp. Ages 3 to 16. $125-$185 per week.
