In honor of Earth Day on April 22, celebrate by taking the family to enjoy a day of fun activities that showcase the amazing planet we live on. Various locations throughout the metro area are hosting special events, with Earth-themed activities and plenty of opportunities to get your hands dirty.

Family Day: Modern and Historic Exploration of Antarctica

Get to know the coldest, windiest place on earth. Meet the CU scientists who venture into some of the harshest climates and learn about what it is like to live there. Step into an actual tent from Robert Falcon Scott’s ill-fated journey, try on modern expeditionary clothing, and make your own ice core. University of Colorado Museum of Natural History, Boulder.

Party for Our Planet

April 20

Celebrate our planet with Earth-themed storytimes, meet and greets with creatures from Nature’s Educators, music with energiLAB, tastings in the Teaching Kitchen, and special crafts. Included with admission. Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus, Denver.

Free Entrance to National Parks

To kick off National Park Week, the National Park Service is offering a fee-free day at all National Park Service sites across the country. Families can explore Colorado’s outdoor spaces while celebrating Earth Day at the same time.
