From classic movies to theatrical performances, here are six ways to get in the Halloween spirit as a family.

Alamo Drafthouse Halloween Movie Parties

October 2-27

Celebrate the Halloween season with a variety of themed movie parties including Practical Magic, Addams Family, The Mummy, Ghostbusters, and Hotel Transylvania. Visit the website for full schedule. Fear Flick Family Night

October 4-27, Thursday-Sunday, 7:15 p.m.

Take a seat on a hay bale to enjoy favorite horror flicks with new films showing every week during Dead Zone Scream Park. All films rated PG-13. Week 1: Killer Klowns from Outer Space; week 2: Beetlejuice; week 3: Happy Death Day; week 4: Signs. Included with admission to the Dead Zone. Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms, 8500 W. Ghostbusters

October 6 and 10

Grangers from the Grave

October 3, 7-8:30 p.m.

Have a spooky evening as a unique story from Broomfield history is brought to life through storytelling by Broomfield Spellbinders and reenactment by children from BackStory Theatre. Age 12 and up. Free. Crescent Grange, 7901 W. 120th Ave., Broomfield. 

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

October 5-26, Saturday, 1 p.m.

Second performance on Oct. 19 and 26, 11am. Watch the story of Ichabod Crane unfold on stage as he learns of the legend of Sleepy Hollow and tries to escape the clutches of the Headless Horseman. Age 3 and up. $12 kids and adults, free for young children sitting on an adult’s lap. Miners Alley Playhouse, 1224 Washington Ave., Golden. 

Spirited Away

October 27, 28, and 30
