Go Nuts for Doughnuts

All the delicious ways to celebrate National Donut Day on June 1.

National Doughnut (Donut) Day is the perfect excuse to try your favorite ring of fried or baked dough (old fashioned, glazed, fritters, oh my!). The commemorative day was actually started in 1938 by the Salvation Army in Chicago to raise money for volunteers that served doughnuts to soldiers during World War 1. Lucky for us, there are many ways to celebrate the occasion in Denver while enjoying these indulgent treats. On June 1, let your sweet tooth shine on National Donut Day. Check out these deals around town.

LaMar’s Donuts

LaMar’s is hosting two scavenger hunts on Friday, June 1, in Fort Collins and Denver. The first clue will be on a card placed on top of the doughnut display case when stores open, the second will come out on social media at 9 a.m., and the third can be found on their website at noon. These clues will lead to one toy doughnut stress ball in Denver and Fort Collins, and the people who find the doughnut toys will receive a $100 Visa gift card. LaMar’s is also partnering with the Salvation Army to turn their disaster relief truck into a LaMar’s National Donut Day truck, giving away fun swag items in different parts of the city on June 1. Of course, they’re also offering a free doughnut to everyone on June 1. Available at seven Denver metro locations.
