Updating Your Spring Wardrobe

Before you know it, spring will be in full bloom! With how unpredictable the weather is here, it could come tomorrow. So, it is best to be prepared to dress to impress! I may love my comfortable sweaters and jeans, but I always get excited to bring out my skirts and t-shirts. For the spring season, you may want to have a mix of warm and cool clothes. With the rain coming in, you never know when a cold front will come through. Get ready for this spring by bringing back out your favorite pieces and don’t be afraid to spruce up your wardrobe with some color.

First things first, staple items! Staple Items refers to basic items in your wardrobe that are versatile enough to fit numerous outfits. These are meant to last for a long time, so you want to make sure you are getting a piece that fits your size and comfort needs. Quality over quantity any day! Some examples are white t-shirts, a favorite pair of jeans, or a dress you can wear both casually or to a fancy occasion. My current favorite staple pieces are a black cardigan, my favorite green skirt, and simple white tank tops or shirts! Staples can be different for anyone, depending on what colors you prefer to wear and what style best suits you. It’s best to look at what clothing pieces you reach for the most when getting dressed, and which you feel the most confident in. Can it be worn to the office, or a day in the park? Staple items can be worn during any season, so keep those in mind when updating your wardrobe!

With the trees and flowers coming to life, let’s bring some life into your clothes! Popular colors during this time are… Can you guess? Pastels! Color can be intimidating to some of us (me included), but it may be time to branch out and try new things. I used to wear exclusively black or white, but now I’ve fallen in love with wearing green and pinks! Patterns are also a wonderful way to bring your wardrobe to life! Pair a polka dot top with your staple pants and you are good to go! However, if neutrals are your cup of tea, who am I to say otherwise? Just don’t fear the color, it could bring a lot more life and depth into your closet, you never know what you’ll like until you try.

Don’t forget, accessories are a small, yet simple, way to spruce up outfits you already love! Stylish belts, hats, jackets and coats. Or, if you like, jewelry! These accessories can dress-up or dress-down any outfit. Shoes bring every outfit to a perfect ending, bringing it all together. I would recommend comfortable shoes that will last you for years, you don’t want to spend your days with aching feet.

Clothing is a way for one to express themselves, so it can be very unique per individual. If you’re struggling with your style identity, it may be a good idea to whip out those Pinterest boards to gain some inspiration! It can be difficult to find the style that suits you best, but be patient with yourself. You don’t need to spend hundreds on clothes to find what you like either! Try thrift stores or places with plenty of seasonal sales. Everyone’s budget is different too, so invest in clothes you think are truly worth it. Have fun with your wardrobe this season as we transition to sunnier days!
